Our little boy, Jacob, is adopted and has quite a complex social history. His development has been significantly affected by this. Jacob is nearly 6. His DOB is 9/8/96. Physically he is very delayed and is still not walking independently nor talking. He is learning signalong sign language. He has been diagnosed recently as having an Autistic Spectrum disorder and is responding very well to being treated as an intelligent child with a severe social and communication disorder. Jacob has been successfully treated for pulmonary stenosis, although this may need to be repeated in the future as it was done quite early and he still has a hole in his heart that is being monitored. Jacob takes Prozac for severe anxiety (part of the ASD) which has been successful despite our initial reluctance to use drugs.
